DiscPac™ 8000 Series SAS/SATA Disc RAID System The DiscPac™ 8000 Series features a 2U 12-drive array providing a FC interface to internal SAS or SATA disk drives, and an external SAS interface to one or more expansion units. With support for a range of disk speeds and capacities, the DiscPac™ 8000 Series adapts to a broad range of applications. Those requiring maximum disk performance benefit from the unsurpassed performance of 15,000 RPM disks, as well as the capability to mix both SATA and SAS technology within a single disk enclosure. This provides a user with an optimum environment for Information Lifecycle Management.
The advanced capacitor discharge cache removes the need for having battery back up - data held in the non
volatile memory protected infinitely.Capacity and performance may be dynamically expanded by adding disks (or expansion chassis) without interrupting storage operations or attached host applications. The modular architecture consists of a number of self-contained controller-chassis, expansion enclosures and disks. Each base and expansion enclosure occupies 2U of rack space and supports up to 12 disks.
Controller enclosures include one or two controllers while expansion enclosures contain no controllers.
All components are redundant, hot-swap removable and field-serviceable for dependability, including drives, RAID I/O modules, power supplies (integrated cooling fans).

The DiscPac™ 7000 Series provides organisations with unparallel storage flexibility to meet real world business objectives. The highly scalable DiscPac™ 7000 enables cost effective storage for large amounts of data online, those of which include fixed content, reference data, or any disk-to-disk backup. In addition, the DiscPac™ 7000 allows users to deliver high IOPS for applications that require maximum MB/s throughput for high bandwidth applications such as streaming video.
Very fast performance is offered as a 4Gb Fibre Channel host connection. High Reliability is achieved through the number of RAID levels. They are configurable as JBOD, 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50, 60 and NRAID. Use RAID 0 to realise the best performance. Use RAID 3 for excellent performance with no degradation or data loss if a drive fails. Use RAID 6 for excellent performance and maximum data protection.
